Scott Gailen, Esq., Recognized for Expertise in Legal Services as an Attorney
Scott Gailen, Esq., celebrated for over 40 years of success in his industry
CHATSWORTH, CA, July 18, 2024, Scott Gailen, Esq., has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who. As in
all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value.
Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account
during the selection process.
Mr. Gailen is a distinguished legal professional with an extensive career spanning over 40
years. He currently serves as the president and owner of Scott Gailen, Inc., a position he has
held since founding the firm in 1987. He became an attorney in 1980, and literally began
litigating cases in court immediately. In this role, since having his own firm since 1987,
Scott Gailen continues his continued legal work and litigation. He oversees the daily
operations of the firm, manages finances and engages in a variety of legal work. His
expertise in trials and negotiations has earned him significant recognition in the legal
community.
Mr. Gailen’s journey in law began at a young age and he was further inspired by a family
friend who was a lawyer, who told Mr. Gailen you have a job waiting for you in his firm, as
a law clerk, after 1 year of law school. Mr. Gailen pursued a Bachelor of Science Degree in
political science with a minor in business at California State University Northridge, which
he completed in 1976. He then graduated from San Fernando Valley College of Law with a Juris Doctor and began the
practice of law as an attorney in 1980.
While completing his education, Mr. Gailen began his career as a law clerk where he quickly demonstrated his
capabilities. He became an attorney in the law firm in 1980. By 1984, he had become a partner at the firm. When the
firm dissolved in 1987, he took the bold step of establishing his own practice, Scott Gailen, Inc., where he has continued
to thrive for over three decades. He also remains a member of the State Bar of California and the San Fernando Valley
Bar Association.
Throughout his career, Mr. Gailen has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to the field of law. In 2024, he
was honored as one of the Top 1% of Attorneys by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel and named among
the Top 10 Family Law Attorneys by the American Association of Attorney Advocates. Additionally, he has been listed
as one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in California, one of the Top 10 Family Law Lawyers in California and a Top 10
Lawyer by the American Institute of Criminal Law Attorneys.
Mr. Gailen’s commitment to helping others extends beyond his professional achievements. At the age of 16, he joined a
humanitarian organization VIVA (Voices in Vital America) dedicated to attempting to obtain an accounting of the
Missing in Action and Prisoners of war in Vietnam. Many people may remember this organization was the one that
created and distributed the POW bracelets. Scott Gailen started bagging bracelets, then to the shipping department, then
to accounting and at age 19 became the Director of Operations of VIVA. As of result of his work with VIVA, another
humanitarian organization (Youth Concerned), requested that Scott Gailen along with other teenagers travel to several
countries to help in the quest of the accounting of the missing men and even journalists. This organization was granted
a request to meet with members of a delegation of the Vietcong in Paris, in which even the US members of Congress
were not granted such a meeting. This catapulted the success of the trip to meet high level members of various countries
they visited for the purpose of the accounting of these missing in action. None of the youths on this trip were related to
any of the missing in action which helped the group be accepted for these meetings. Information proved fruitful that the
group could prove that certain men were proven to be captured and should not be listed as missing. Mr. Gailen was listed
by name as all the other members of the Youth Concerned Group after they were back in the United States in the US
Congressional Record with high praises from members of Congress. His involvement in this cause remains one of his
proudest accomplishments.
Mr. Gailen attributes his success to his diverse experience in various types of law, which has kept him intellectually
stimulated and prevented burnout. His dedication to continually learning and helping others underscores his enduring
impact on both his clients and the broader legal community.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Gailen enjoyed playing modified softball in competitive leagues as well as now
playing pickleball. Looking ahead, he plans to continue leading his firm while striving for a better work-life balance.
Although he has no immediate plans for retirement, he aims to slow down ever so slightly to enjoy more personal time
while still contributing to his field.
